About Oostmahorn

Oostmahorn is a small village on the western side of the Lauwersmeer with less than 100 inhabitants. It is located on the edge of the Frisian part of Lauwersmeer National Park. Beside the local people, the village has two holiday parks. De Skâns (this is where Holland1 has houses for rent) and Landal Esonstad.

There are three playgrounds in Oostmahorn: there is a playground on the beach, a playground with a bouncy castle and a playground in the bungalow park “de Skâns”. Within walking distance of the park there is a 300 metre sand and grass beach. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view.

Next to Holland1 is Landal Esonstad. You can go there every day for small groceries. There is also a snack bar, a pizzeria, a beach snack bar and three restaurants, two of which have a view of the Lauwersmeer. You can also play Pitch & Putt golf.

Activities in Oostmahorn

Want to discover the Oostmahorn area from the water? Then there are plenty of possibilities! You can hire boats, surfboards or canoes in the marina near Paviljoen La Barca. In addition, Holland1 organises boat trips to Dokkum in the summer together with the excursion boat Vlinderbalg.

Oostmahorn is also popular for fishing lovers. Bream and roach in particular are found in the Lauwersmeer, but you can also fish for pike perch and perch. You can buy a fishing licence at the reception of Holland1.
