Ameland
Need some nature, peace and space? Then Ameland is the right place for you! It takes 45 minutes to travel by boat from Holwerd to Ameland. Visit the four lovely villages (each with its own history and culture), walk on the lovely beaches with a view of the sea or make a cycling tour through the dunes. Looking for more of a challenge? Then you can also go kiting, surfing, sailing, take a sightseeing flight over the island or even go parachuting.
Schiermonnikoog
Unique landscapes, wide beaches and special flowers and plants describe Schiermonnikoog. From the harbour in Lauwersoog, there are daily boats to the Wadden Island of Schiermonnikoog ( about 45 minutes travel time). The beaches are nice and wide and quiet, so you can take a lovely walk here and get a breath of fresh air.
Various excursions are possible on the island. Think of bird excursions, mudflat hiking or a trip with a covered wagon that drives you along all the beautiful spots of the island. The easternmost point of Schiermonnikoog, “de Balg”, is also worth a visit. De Balg is a sandbank, which came into being some 200 years ago. It is a place where seals can be spotted.
